Welcome to the Church of St Mary, Harrow on the Hill:

a place of peace and prayer for all people for over 900 years.

Hello!

Welcome, and thank you for visiting us.

St Mary's Church has been ministering to the community of Harrow for over 900 years. Today, St Mary's is not only Harrow's most recognisable landmark; we also remain a lively presence in what has become the most religiously diverse borough in the UK. With this in mind, our Peace Chapel is open daily, as a special space for people of any faith or none to use for prayer and meditation.

This year marks 925 years since this building was consecrated by St Anselm, Archbishop of Canterbury. Find out more about our celebrations and other events at St Mary's here.

Thoughts from Father James

What makes us who we are?

What makes us who we are as Christians?
What makes us distinctive here - in this place - in the most religiously diverse borough in the country?

We are a people of prayer. We are a people of compassion. We are a people of justice, seeking to break down barriers wherever they are found.

We want to live up to the words on our doors, here at St Mary's Harrow on the Hill:

"A place of peace and prayer for all people".

Thereby - pray God - we will be doing the
will of God.
