Bellringing at St. Mary's

Rehearsals and Ringing Times

St Mary's is blessed with ten tower bells - one of only a handful of churches in outer London with this many - and an active team of bellringers aged from 11 to 70+ who ring them on Sundays and special occasions.

We ring at the following times:

  • Sunday at 9:45AM

  • Sunday evening- though times vary, so please contact the guild secretary to confirm.

Our practice night is on Monday from 8PM to 9:30PM, with our early learners session running from 7:30PM to 8:30PM

The bellringing team welcome visitors (by appointment, please!) and have an extensive training programme, including instruction for candidates undertaking Duke of Edinburgh Awards. Bells of all sizes are rung, from handbells to tower bells.

If you wish to join us or to visit please contact the Guild Secretary, Mrs Pauline Chandler, via the Parish Office

Bell Data

Below is some key information for all 10 of our bells. Some of our bells have special inscriptions written on them, and as you can see, our bells span a long period of time- our oldest was cast in the 17th century!
