The Crown Street Trust

Founded by St Mary’s parishioners in 1862, the Crown Street Trust originally provided an alcohol-free meeting place, hot meals and overnight accommodation at 6 Crown Street.

Today, the proceeds from the property’s sale are ethically invested to support charitable work across Harrow, including projects addressing substance misuse, homelessness, youth opportunity and community cohesion.

The Trust remains closely linked to St Mary’s. Trustees are appointed by the vicar, and our work is guided by Christian values.

Our impact

At the Crown Street Trust, we fund local organisations making a practical difference in Harrow.

FirmFoundation

Our support helped establish the FirmFoundation Hub near Harrow town centre.

It brings together showers, laundry, food, housing support, drug and alcohol services, the council’s rough sleeper team, and a weekly nurse and GP clinic.

FirmFoundation also provides supported accommodation and, on average, helps someone into housing every eight days.

Ignite Youth

Ignite Youth is a faith-based charity helping 11–25-year-olds turn adversity into advantage through education, employability, positive relationships and healthier choices.

We have supported boxing, fitness and mentoring programmes for young people affected by alcohol and substance misuse.

Over three years, the partnership reached 296 young people, reporting a 30% reduction in smoking, drug or alcohol use, a 90% increase in positive life choices, a 90% reduction in risky behaviour and a 76% increase in positive relationships.

Young Harrow Foundation

Since 2022, we have partnered with Young Harrow Foundation to fund early-intervention and diversionary programmes for children and young people at risk of drinking, smoking, substance misuse and related harmful behaviours.

Working with Harrow Council and local partners, the programme strengthens referral pathways and helps young people access support before problems become more severe.

Previous grant recipients include Mind in Harrow, Watford FC CSE Trust, My Yard, Crowning Greatness, Impressionable Minds and Blue Magpie Foundation.
